oh well

May 1, 2008

I was trying to get through the week without spending any money, but I had to buy some books.  I tried to have some restraint.  And I did.  It lasted all of 24 hours.  Next thing you know, I’m up in the bookstore plunking down $50. Even since I was a child, new stuff to read has always been my weakness.  Still is.

Oh well.

I got new books!

  1. I love books. :) If you’re going to spend that’s a good thing to do it on.

  2. I love books too. Some books I like to keep but others I sell on half.com after I’m done reading them. That helps defray the cost of buying books.

  3. Library sistah ant?Call me a cheap @ss but since I’m not a “bookie”, I’m always curious why people buy books instead of just checking them out…just curious…

I used to go to the library, when I lived in another place and it was convenient for me. It’s not convenient for me now, AND I like to own the books I like. When I want to re-read the book, I can pull it off my shelf and enjoy at my leisure without worrying about driving or bussing to the library, and worrying about not missing due dates or paying fines or the like. And I have quite a bit of books. I am totally a “bookie.” Book lovers don’t just want the content - they want the books themselves.

  4. Thanks for the answer…I’ve always been so curious about that in people but way too afraid to ask. I used to LOVE to read but grad school totally burned me out. I’ve just recently found my love of reading and it’s feels good but my cheapness keeps me from buying any. Take care of yourself :) Kellie
