7 of the many random/weird things

April 15, 2008

Well, since Dolly Iris tagged me, I figure I ought to oblige with 7 random/weird things about me but since I’ve done this meme before, I’m going to try to make them all financial:

  1. I hate carrying cash, which burns a hole in my pocket, and have been known to take my business elsewhere when stores don’t take debit cards.
  2. I have a "piggybank," an old cashew tin with a slit cut into the plastic cover that’s been full for months now.  I’m just in no rush to do anything with that money and it’s going to keep sitting there until I get around to doing something with it.
  3. I am emotionally attached to my checkbook register.  I know there are other more modern ways of keeping track of money, but my checkbook register was the first thing I used when I started getting my money straight, and even after trying other methods, I really just like this one.
  4. I rarely go any longer than 72 hours (more like 48 on a good stretch) without checking my bank balances, even if I know what’s there ‘cause I haven’t made any changes.  What can I say?  I’m a geek, and I like to keep my progress (or damages) in mind as I go throughout my daily purchases.
  5. I hold on to tissue paper and giftbags because I know I can reuse them for others, which is good for my wallet (and the environment, too!).
  6. I like generics for the value, but not on peanut butter, ice cream, yogurt, daily facial scrub, or cookies.
  7. I’m so used to thin school-or-work-quality-1000-sheets-per-roll toilet paper that I don’t even like the good stuff anymore.
So there you have it.  I know I’m not supposed to but I’m not tagging anyone - that said, if you want to jump in with 7 financial things about you, I’d love to see it!
