sweet home
Stayed at home all weekend. Didn’t even go grocery shopping like I usually do. Didn’t spend one penny. Not one. Stayed entertained by the internet, movies on cable, and reading a book that I’d purchased a year and a half ago, but hadn’t read yet.
Payday is only three days off. In that time, I’ll get and send my mom a birthday card and pick up lunch for the rest of this week. That shouldn’t run me any more than $15-20. I do at least have that much money. I’ll be staying home all week, too. At least until payday.
My honey and my mom have no time off for Christmas, so I thought about going home the weekend before. On second thought, given how much we spent on gas this Thanksgiving, and how traffic-laden the roads will be, and how short a time we’d get to stay, we’ll be doing Christmas at home this year instead of at my parents’ house. This will be my first Christmas with my honey all alone. I want to go all out and cook a big dinner and trim a tree in honor of the occasion… but there’s only two of us, and we’ve got no room to display a tree, no desire to pick up pine needles, and no money for an artificial tree. I think I’ll cook a small ham and a few other things, get some cider, and go to a crafts store to see what small decorations they have on sale. It’s going to be a great holiday! And I’m taking Monday off so I can have a day to myself on Christmas Eve.
